Restore permalink prediction

    In previous versions of WordPress, you could see if you previously had used the permalink for a post. Now you can only see once you publish your post & then you end up with a ‘-2’ at the end. Please restore the ability to see that the author has used the predicted permalink previously. Does this make sense?

    Hi there,

    This is something that wasn’t included in the block editor when it was introduced in WordPress 5.0. The WordPress software, including the block editor, is made by the community on WordPress.org, and any changes to how this works would have to come from there as well.

    There is already an open feature request for this in the block editor, but I cannot tell you if/when they might decide to work on this.
