Restore previous version of wordpress site
-
I have tried to fix an error in a mailchimp subscribe section in a website footer.
The code was in appearance > theme editor
I pasted over the existing code with the new code from mailchimp – it didn’t work and now it looks weird.
Can I rollback the whole site to a previous version from earlier today before any changes were made?
The site I am working on is thisisnotart.org – we are a charity and don’t have any in house expertise to resolve the problem.
Thanks

Hi there!
Please note that your site at thisisnotart.org is using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by Google Cloud. We aren’t able to provide direct support for sites using WordPress.org as this forum is for WordPress.com sites. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check out this page: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.
The WordPress.org software doesn’t have any built-in options to roll back to an earlier version. You’d want to contact your hosting service provider (Google Cloud, in this case) to see if they keep a backup that you could restore to.
For future reference, you may consider using our Jetpack Backups service for your WordPress.org site. Jetpack Backups lets you restore to an earlier point with just one click. Since you don’t already have this service, we aren’t able to help with rolling back to a previous state of your site, but in case you run into issues again in the future and want the option to roll back, you may consider using Jetpack Backups.
In the meantime, if Google Cloud support can’t help you with this, please post on the WordPress.org support forum for more help: https://wordpress.org/support/forums
Regards
