Restore Previous Website

  Hello I had a website and the domain lapsed, is there any way to restore the old website. Or do I have to recreate a new one from scratch?

  Hi there, @breakawayeip!

  Thanks for reaching out.

  Are you referring to your old WordPress.com site that was on the domain breakawayeip.com?

  If so, it should be possible to restore that old site. To do so, you would want to follow these steps:

  1. Head to My Site → Upgrades → Plans and purchase the WordPress.com Business plan on your site
  2. After your plan is purchased, head to My Site → Settings → Hosting Configuration → Activate
  3. Once activated, you can restore a backup at My Site → Jetpack → Backups. The last backup we have was taken on 2022-11-17 so you will want to select that backup date or prior to 2022-11-17.
  4. Once restored and you have confirmed all looks good, you can register the domain breakawayeip.com again at My Site → Upgrades → Domains → Search for a domain
