    Can I restore or recover my wordpress site data if my domain expired almost a year ago? My hosting was from IONOS. I repurchased the same domain name.

    If IONOS was hosting your site, that is who you would need to talk to. To be honest with you, I doubt if any hosting provider would still have any backups on their servers after almost a year, unfortunately — but that’s just my educated guess; you’d have to talk to someone at IONOS to be sure

    Keep in mind, WordPress itself is a piece of software for building websites. WordPress.com is actually just one of many hosting companies which offers that software — but we are also named after it, so this can often cause confusion. Your site hosted on IONOS may have been using the software, but that does not mean it was connected to WordPress.com in any meaningful way.
