Restore the Text editing functionality of the Classic Editor in the Classic Bloc

Editing a post in “text mode” in the classic editor, I get a number of convenience features. Lists. Delete/Insert. Justification, Bold, Italics, etc.

You can see it in this image, though I grant you it is a bit small. It wasn’t before I uploaded it.

In the New and Improved Classic Block, none of those features are available in “edit code mode”

Who takes a giant step back?

  • Hi,

The Block Editor was created to allow you to easily insert any type of content to a post or a page without the need of working with code. You can still see the option to edit each block as HTML (it’s not the same feature as Visual/Text in the Classic Editor really) and that’s what I see on your screenshot.

I understand that you’re not happy with the change and that you’re used to working in another way with the Classic Editor. If you’d like to be able to easily add lists, media files, change the format of the text, I’d suggest giving other blocks a try and only edit them as HTML if there are some other details you’d like to modify that way.
I believe we have already sent you the link to our guide but here it is, just in case:
