  Hi, I’m looking to restore a domain I previously used, swampscare.com, but am unable to. How can I find out the status of this? Is it available for purchase elsewhere, or simply not available in the pool of domains?

  That domain was canceled on August 16.

  It has passed the grace and redemption periods and is now in the process of being returned to the public market: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#domain-released

  At this point, the domain is out of our control, so I recommend trying to register it as a new domain once a day or week, and if no one else registers it before you once it hits the public market, you should be able to recover it.
