Restore website from .xml file

    Hi guys

    I have set up a simple website on wordpress.com . I have set it up using a free account.

    Rigt now I would like to have the same website on localhost so i can work a little more on that. I exported the xml file and tried to import it on localhost. Everything goes good but after importing the original website and the imported website are not the same.

    Is there anyway i can have this website on localhost (taking in consideration that i have a free account plan on wordpress.com)??

    What do you mean it’s not the same? When you import an XML file, only the contents of the site are transferred (posts, pages, media files). The design is not carried over.

    In general, I don’t recommend working like that. It’s best to work directly on your WordPress.com site. If you want to work on your site offline, you can use either the desktop or the mobile app.
