restoring default a records, CName and NS record
-
Up until this morning, my blog was working fine. I had been having trouble setting up my email on my mac and went in to make some changes to the A record and ended up deleting the default CName record.
Now my blog isn’t online and I can’t restore the CName record or recreate one that says that it’s ‘handled by WordPress’. I’ve tried to restore the settings from 2 months ago and still nothing. Can anyone shed some light on what I’m doing wrong??
Thank you :)

You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you registered it every year. See this WHOIS entry
The domain mapping here has not expired.

Hi Timethief, thanks for your reply.
I don’t understand what you mean (my apologies!). I own the domain – everything is current and active. I had it mapped perfectly on the WordPress MyDomains config page until this morning. My WordPress mapping is valid until September 2015.
I’ve been trying to use the support page information about setting up Domain mapping but it says nothing about what you can do if you delete one of the default records. The support page says:
Adding Custom DNS Records
At the top of the Edit DNS page, you’ll see three records that are set in place by default. These records will be followed by a “handled by WordPress.com” message. In order for your domain to work correctly, you’ll need to leave those in place. If you need to add separate DNS records, you’ll want to add them in addition to the preset records.
My issue is “i never left them in place’ like it says above. I accidentally deleted the CName record. Now I don’t know how to get them back to make everything work again. It won’t let me add them manually.
I even tried deleting the whole Domain DNS set up and re-register and start from scratch but all it says is that I’ve already mapped the domain. So confusing for a newbie!! lol.

Still trying to resolve this issue – according to the Domain Helper, everything is validated and ok… I don’t know what else to do or what else to search for… I seem to be going around in circles… would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hey there! It looks like your A record could be set up incorrectly. Is your domain working the way you want now?

Hi Shawna,
Thanks for the response – I played around with it some more (and literally play is what I did – lol) and I seem to have fixed it. Not sure what I did but at this stage it’s up and running ok!!! Hopefully I don’t break it again!
Cheers

Sounds good. I won’t touch anything then since everything is working correctly. :)
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!
