Restoring deleted domain

    Hello, I need help restoring this domain name! Since cancelling my plan before, I decided to delete it but I figured the domain would become available again after a few days, boy was I so wrong. I registered it through you guys, so I would like to know how to reobtain it, since I gave you my residential address to register in the first place, I assume it shouldn’t be too difficult to transfer ownership again. But, I don’t know where to start, so please help me! Thank you.

    Hi there,

    You appear to have canceled your domain name, which has resulted in a refund and also means that you no longer own it. However, you do have a few options for getting it back, let us know which you would like to move forward with!

    1. Wait for grace period to end – Your domain is in a 5 day grace period (from the time you cancelled) but at the end of that it goes on sale again. As long as no one buys it before you do, you can purchase it again with another provider. According to our records it will be available on or about September 7th

    2. Let us recover the domain – Because you have already been refunded, we can send an invoice for registration fees and restore the domain.

    3. Stay on WordPress.com – The cost of your domain is included in your plan purchase. To restore your domain just purchase a new plan, and then let us know so we can reattach the domain to your WordPress.com site.

    Thank you so much! This helps a bunch. I think I will wait for option #1 before moving forward. And if there still seems to be an issue, then I will try option #2. I also look forward to checking out more of the forums, seeing how active and helpful your staff from wordpress seem to be (from your impression). I’m looking forward to learning more about the platform!

    I do want to clarify:

    I think I will wait for option #1 before moving forward. And if there still seems to be an issue, then I will try option #2.

    Basically the options are 1) to wait for the grace period to end (typically about 5 days on .com domains), or 2) buy the domain back during the grace period. The domain won’t be in our system after the grace period, but you could buy it again at that point wherever you’d like, so long as no one else buys it first. If someone does buy it first, we’ll be out of options. I hope that helps! It’s unlikely unless there’s some dash for a particular domain, but I just to be sure we’re setting expectations correctly.
