Restoring deleted pictures

  I made a horrible mistake thinking I could free up some space in my media library and deleted most of the pictures I had. Now they are mostly gone from all of my blog posts and I haven’t figured out a way to get them back. Are they gone forever or is there anything I can do to restore them?

  Hi @jessicaiwanski – The images that are associated with jessicaajoyy.wordpress.com have not been removed from Google’s index yet, and are still available. You will need to download them from here: https://jessicaajoyy.wordpress.com/

  I see that you also deleted jessicaajoyy.wordpress.com. When you delete a .wordpress.com domain, you (nor anyone else) are ever able to use that domain ever again. There’s more information about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  Hi staff-zinnia – Thank you for the information! The site I was referring to was a different, more recent blog that I started… https://milkwithameal.wordpress.com/

  Some of the recent posts on that blog still have my photos showing just fine but all of my earlier posts have the photos deleted from them. Do you know of anything I can do to restore my media library to what it was before so that the photos will reappear?

  If you search Google Images with the site address you will find all of the images associated with that site.

  Did you remove any images form your Media Library? If you delete an image from your Media Library it will be also be removed anywhere it was located on your site.

  If so, you just need to download the images from the Google link above, and then reinsert them to their correct place on your site.

  Yes, I did delete them from my Media Library which is why I think they were removed from all the posts as well, which I’m sure you just saw when you clicked on the post at https://milkwithameal.wordpress.com/2016/01/13/four-months-of-jameson/

  I had no idea it would do that! I just assumed that once you create a post with pictures, the pictures will stay there no matter what. Not the case apparently. :( I do see all the pictures from your Google search so I may just have to spend some time going through and re-adding them all.
