Restoring "my domain name".wordpress.com

My new free website is currently: https://darwinundergroundfestival.wordpress.com … using your ‘pique’ theme (my 3rd theme attempt!).
My original ‘domain name’ was “tunnelnumberfive. However … when removing the previous themes (Harmonic & Gamon) to replace them with Pique theme, I had trouble trying to remove those themes. I thought choosing a new theme would just remove the previous one & replace with the new one. Not so! I ended up with 2 themes both attached to the one URL & both viewable online! After many hours scouring support pages & forums to no avail … I found a remove button. Assuming it was to remove the unwanted theme from the URL address … I clicked the remove button, only to find that it removed everything including my ‘domain’ name!!! I really need to regain my “tunnelnumberfive” URL to add my new site content to. How can this be achieved? We can’t continue using the “darwinundergroundfestival” URL as there’s a more established “darwin festival.com” … running above ground at the same time . We can’t afford litigation.
It might also be helpfull to others by adding to your Support pages info on how to change/remove themes.

I have several websites attached to my altsoundings account/dashboard.
The website I need help with is darwinundergroundfestival.wordpress.com

  • Hi @altsoundings, we can help you get this sorted. It sounds like you were creating new sites instead of applying the theme to a different site. Typically, if you’re working with wordpress.com/themes or something like piquedemo.wordpress.com you’d be able to activate for an existing site or create a new one. Were you using that option?

Another option is to view the site, then go to My Sites > Themes where you can pick a new theme for the site you’re visiting.

To summarise my 1st entry … rather than resolving how I got to my problem, right now I just need to resolve the problem I’m now faced with.
I need to replace the unwanted URL of my almost completed website ( http://darwinundergroundfestival.wordpress.com ) with my original URL … tunnelnumberfive.
I’m prepared to upgrade to Premium to facilitate this.
My new site needs to be … tunnelnumberfive.com. How can this be achieved?
    …..Thanks

  • Ah, you want a custom domain without the .wordpress.com in it? You can add that to the site here:

    https://wordpress.com/domains

Pick darwinundergroundfestival.wordpress.com and add tunnelnumberfive.com to it.

Or were you trying to port everything from darwinundergroundfestival.wordpress.com to tunnelnumberfive.wordpress.com without the custom domain? That can be a bit trickier, but we can help you through.
