Restoring Old WP Site and Blog
-
Hello, I had a WP site/ blog under the domain yourpersonalstylistonline.com in 2019.
The site was deleted in early 2020, but I’m interested in restoring it. Is this possible?
Please let me know. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
It doesn’t look like yourpersonalstylistonline.com is an active site, so the chances of a restoration are slim when looking at the face of things.
However – I can’t see that yourpersonalstylistonline.com is a registered domain, so it’s possible that this can be registered and a whole new site can be built under that domain here: https://wordpress.com/start/domains > search for: yourpersonalstylistonline.com. I’d recommend doing this sooner rather than later if the domain has an intrinsic value to you from the past.
Additionally, what are you looking for people to do when going to the site (for example: make a booking, purchase a product, looking at a blog article…etc). We can look to suggest the right plan for you and detail how you can achieve those all important website goals.
All of our plans and their features can be found here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
I always find starting a fresh to be quite exciting, so I’m eager to learn more. :)

Hi there,
yourpersonalstylistonline.com is available for registration again. However, was the site hosted with Bluehost before? box5359.temp.domains indicate that it may have been. This means that you have a self-hosted WordPress.org site at Bluehost, not with us here at WordPress.com.To clarify:
- WordPress.com is a managed host platform that offers WordPress in a pre-customized server environment already set up for you to build your site. Hosting with WordPress.com is free, and the server, security, updates, and site optimization are all handled by us. We offer free and paid plans that provide additional features for your site based on your needs (plugins, custom themes, etc). You also have access to professional assistance via Happiness Engineers to address any issues you encounter.
- WordPress.org is a self-hosted platform, meaning you download the WordPress software and install it on a web server from a host of your choosing (Go Daddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc.). You have to pay the host when you’re self-hosting, and the server, security, updates, and site optimization are all handled by you. This gives you more flexibility and control of your plugins, themes, and code, but also more responsibility to ensure those things are operating correctly.
Our support page dives more into the differences:

We welcome you to consider moving your site to WordPress.com, as we’d love to further help you. However, since you’re on a self-hosted platform, we do not have direct access to your account and therefore can’t directly address your issue.I recommend contacting Bluehost, as they would be better positioned to assist you since they have access to your account. Also, the open-source forum community is always available and prepared to help users with self-hosted sites:

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the help. I will reach out to Blue Host. So far, all signs appear to be pointing in the direction of starting something new. I would be using it again as a blog and to market my local, service-based business. Thanks again for the advice!

You’re welcome! Another benefit of hosting your site with us is that in the instance you would let things lapse again, your content would still be found at your free *.wordpress.com URL.
Hosting your website with WordPress.com offers numerous advantages. It provides a user-friendly interface for easy website creation and management. WordPress.com handles technical aspects like security, updates, and server maintenance, freeing you to focus on content creation. Built-in features and plugins enhance functionality, while a supportive community offers forums and tutorials.
WordPress.com ensures scalability, accommodating websites of all sizes. Robust security measures protect against malware and hacking attempts, with high uptime rates guaranteeing accessibility. Although it has some limitations compared to self-hosted WordPress sites, WordPress.com remains an excellent option for user-friendly, managed hosting.
