Restoring Parked Domain
-
Hi
I previously had the website https://thehotcupoftea.com via a WP paid plan.
I removed the website but now I would like to build a new one using this domain,
I cannot see how I can build a new site on this domain which currently says its parked,
Its due to expire 30 Jan 19 and I intend to renew as I still need it, just can’t see how to build the new site on it.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Thank you, not sure if its relevant but it will let me purchase the domain again if I go through ‘create site’ although it also shows in billing as due to renew on 30 Jan

More info if needed after looking about. The domain thehotcupoftea.com still shows as owned so cannot be repurchased so I assume I still own it.
I guess the only bit I need to know now is how I can get to a point of starting to build on it.

Hi –
I’ve restored the deleted site at thehotcupofteacom.wordpress.com in order to reactivate your domain, thehotcupoftea.com.
Now, you should find that site listed under the My Sites tab in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Restoring the domain has restored your ownership. Please understand that the domain is registered with WordPress.com at this time. That’s the only way to make sure you didn’t lose ownership of it.
There are 2 ways to use it at another service.
1. Transfer it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/#transfer-domain-registration-to-another-registrar
2. Edit the DNS: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/#change-name-servers-to-point-the-domain-outside-of-wordpress-comPlease read those over and let me know if you need further help or have additional questions.

Thank you ever so much, I want to keep everything with WordPress, can I move ownership back to me on WordPress?
-
Apologies, the above was on the wrong profile.
I would like to keep everything with wordpress if possible.

I’ve now renewed the domain name for another year and set it as the primary site.
Everything looks to be back now so thank you for sorting that out.
Do you know how long it takes for the website to show up instead of showing as parked?

Hi there,
Your site is already working for me, but it can take up to 72 hours for the DNS changes on the domain to update across the web.
If you’re still seeing a parked page notice, try clearing your browser cache. But if that doesn’t help, try giving it a few more hours :)
