Restoring unpaid deleted websites
-
Hi there.
I don’t understand how my Word Press account and unpaid websites got deleted as I didn’t delete them. I was able to find the e-mail links in my e-mail inbox and restore my account but it is not letting me restore my websites once I press restore site on the Word Press e-mail link. How can I restore my websites as my account is now showing zero websites and is not letting me restore my previous websites which I did not delete.
Thank you Jaime Castro: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi @mrjaimecastro,
Sorry to hear about this, it can definitely be stressful. Based on what you described, here are a few things that might have happened and what you can do:
1. Sites may have been permanently deleted or expired
On WordPress.com, deleted sites can only be restored within a limited time. If the sites were already permanently deleted (or not upgraded and removed after inactivity), the restore link may no longer work.2. Logged into a different account
Sometimes this happens if you have multiple email addresses. Even if you restored your account, the websites might be under a different WordPress account/email.3. Expired upgrade / domain issue
If the site had a paid plan or custom domain that expired, the site might be removed or require reactivation before it appears again. What you should do next:- Double-check all email accounts you’ve used with WordPress
- Try logging in directly via:
👉 WordPress login page - Look for any emails about site deletion or expiration timelines
- Contact WordPress Support ASAP – they can still recover sites if it’s within their retention window
WordPress Support
I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Jaime!
We’ve restored your sites and replied to your email with more details. For any further help, please continue the conversation there.
For reference, here’s the guide you can follow to restore the deleted websites if the email links do not work: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/#restore-a-deleted-siteI’ll go ahead and close this thread for now.
