Restricting activity of child users

    I have created a class blog for the children to contribute to, of which I am the administrator. For them to contribute they need to be users but this means having their own accounts which then makes them administrators of their own blogs which leads to new e-safety concerns. Is there any way of restricting what they are able to do through their accounts, or a way for them to contribute without being users/ account holders?

    The age for registering here is 13 years and if they did not register username accounts the software could not differentiate them from hackers. They must have username accounts but they do not have to register blogs. There is an option for registering a username account only.

    It’s my opinion that the best way to address the e-safety concerns is to have the parents register the accounts and then activley monitor the activities of their own children.

    There is no limitation on the total number of contributors to any blog. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.

    As noted above they need accounts but do not need to register blogs. They will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If they are logged into their WordPress.com account, they will be taken directly to your blog. If not, they will be taken to the log-in screen, where they can either log in or create a new user account.

    Note that users who create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.

    The limit is 10 invitations at any point in time. It’s a spammer prevention limit. So simply wait and then send out 10 more.

    @seineclass – As Timethief mentioned, the best scenario at WordPress.com would be to assign them the contributor role (or the best option determined by what you’re looking to setup) as explained here:

    If you do not want them to sign-up for a blog, they can create just a username here:

    https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

    Please note, the students must be at least 13 years old to sign-up for an account. Can you confirm?
