Restricting comments to Facebook/Twitter account users
-
Is it possible to restrict comments to only come from people logged in using Facebook and Twitter?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That is not a feature that WordPress.com offers.
You can manually approve or reject all comments if you need to have more control over them. But there isn’t a way to say “allow comments that come from here but not from here”.

Thanks for the response.
If that’s the case, I think we may just disable comments. We get so many spam comments that it’s difficult to find the ‘real’ comments and approve them. We’ll be directing people to our Facebook/Twitter pages if they want to engage with us – we’d prefer the comments to be captured on-site, and the login features for those social networks are great, but WordPress.com itself seems to draw too much spam.

Spam tends to come in waves. Spammers find a new method of spamming and then out anti spam measures counteract it. On and on it goes.

I looked back three pages and only found one comment that was not a Pingback – Akismet does a good job sorting spam out and sending 99.98% to the spam que correctly – it you are looking for real comments in the spam queue – you are pretty much wasting your time
I set my comments to Moderate and barely glance at the stuff in the spam queue before clearing it – get around 200 a day in the queue to delete – very few false positives that I need to actually approve –
You might be looking at things a bit backwards – I admin a friends blog and they get very few in the spam queue and once in a while one of their friends will end up in the queue by accident – but easy to sort out when there are only 4 comments in the queue

Generally, my experience mirrors Auxclass’s. I think there some subject matter gets hit a bit harder than others, for whatever reason. But all in all, Akismet does a really good job.
