Retain urls, comments, socials share counts, etc. when transitioning themes

How can I ensure that if I ever decide to transition to a new theme, I retain the URLs, comments, social share counts, etc. of my posts?

All help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hey dickclucas

WordPress itself controls the permalink structure so a theme doesn’t have anything to do with it.

And if we talk about the social sharing counts, if you use the built-in social sharing button, it’s controlled by Jetpack which means again it’s independent of your WordPress theme.

Almost every theme has the comment box and comments are stored in the WordPress repository so if your new theme has a comment box, everything will remain the same.

Even though your new theme doesn’t have the comment box, everything will be same and you will be able to see all the comments in your WordPress dashboard but they will not appear on your website.

So, there is nothing to worry about.

If your current theme has some features and your new theme doesn’t only then you will lose something.
