Retrieve a domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I just received an invoice for denunciame.org, a domain I purchased quite a while ago thru wordpress. I have just looked at the Domain Helper and it says the domain has expired. I would like to see if I can retrieve it and change the domain server back to WordPress. Please help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A whois shows they domain is not registered with WordPress.COM, you need to contact the registrar to renew the registration

    http://www.whois.com/whois/denunciame.org

Note that Tucows Inc. is an agent for many companies – the invoice your received (assuming it is not spam) should show the correct registrar or you should have the records somewhere

Thanks for your reply auxclass. Why is WordPress charging me $13 then? How can I dispute the charge?

The $13.- is for domain mapping to a blog here,

To make a site here work with a custom domain name you need two things

    1) a custom domain name – denunciame.org in your case which seems to be expired

    2) Domain Mapping that matches up denunciame.org to a base blog / site here

Thanks again auxclass. I am not using that domain mapping, can I get my money back? If not, how can I stop getting charged for a service I am not using?

If you are logged in as the owner of the upgrade you should be able to turn off auto-renew and request a refund from

Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades

I have also flagged this for staff attention if you need more help

  • The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of that domain mapping upgrade.

So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to request a refund.
