Retrieve Deleted Blog URL

I deleted my blog and I can’t retrieve the old url for it because it keeps saying it’s taken even though it’s deleted. Is there any way I can get that url back because it’s really important for me to keep that blog name and i really don’t want to move to blogspot.

That’s not possible. Provided you are logged in under the Admin username account that registered the blog in question you can delete any blog registered under that username by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
There are several warnings throughout the process that clearly and unequivocally state that deleting a blog URL is irreversible and neither you nor anyone else can use it again. Then a verification link is sent in an email with yet another warning that deleting a blog URL is permanent and cannot be undone.
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled. If you delete a blog URL it can not be used by you or by anyone else again.

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
