Retrieve former blog

  I deleted my blog with WordPress.com, but have decided to return. However, my former blog name is no longer available. I believe this is because I previously used it. How can I retrieve my former blog name?

  It’s too bad you deleted the blog and will not be able to recover the URL. Deleted blog URLs here are not recycled and that’s why there are 3 warnings given as well as clicking a verification link in an email to delete a blog.

  You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  I am very aware of the warnings, but was moving to a new platform.

  Another question, whenever I go to my account settings, my former WordPress URL is listed as my web address. If I create a new blog using a different WordPress URL, will using the former lead to my current blog?

  Changes to your Profile are not retroactive, so your old comments etc will lead to the deleted blog. If you make the change on your Profile page, then the new comments will point to whatever URL you put in the Website box.
