Retrieve installation file
-
Hi,
I bought the Melody theme(https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/melody/) for my domain https://bymysisterstable.wordpress.com/. I bought it through wordpress.com, an not through the creator of the theme’s own site: https://nudgethemes.com/wordpress-themes/melody-theme/.
It’s the same price – so i believe it should have the same benefits. Now I have decided that i want to use the theme for another domain instead, which means that i need to get the installation file and license key in order for me to install it(at line.dahleide.com) and remove it from bymysistertable.com.
Can you help me retrieve the installation file? I can’t seem to find out how to do that. Usually, when you buy a theme you have the installation file and everything available for downloading. When they have the same price at both wordpress.com’s market place and at Nudge themes’ site – it should have the same value and benefits, right?

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Please read what you find in the relevant support doc for Premium themes and specifically that they are not transferable so you need to contact the designer to get a copy that will run on wordprerss.ORG software. https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-themes/#how-to-get-a-premium-theme

Hi timethief! Thanks for your reply!
So what you are saying is that we should get a copy of the installation file for .ORG wordpress free from the designer?

Yes, if you are moving to a wordpress.ORG install you need a version of the theme that is coded to run on wordpress.ORG software. First, you will need to apply for a refund for the theme version for wordpress.COM software that you purchased here.
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

Sadly, I bought the theme a few months ago for another project that didn’t work out. Which means that my 30-day refund period is over by now. Is there not any other way to get the theme tranferred? Not even on the same user but to my other domain, alinebytwo.wordpress.com(because we dont necessarily need to have it on line.dahleide.com?

I have understood that there is two different things, .org and .com. But i just dont understand how the .com theme cost as much as .org theme – but is so limited in value compared to the EXACT same theme for .org?
