Retrieving an expired domain

I purchased a domain with WordPress.com that expired a few months ago and would like to get it back. How is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It may be possible or it may not be. Staff need details please.
    1. What is the domain URL?
    2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
    3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
    4. When was the upgrade purchased?
    5. When did the refund request and upgrade cancellation take place?

Well, what is the actual URL?

    1. What is the domain URL?

Well, if I post that on a public forum and it’s expired, I don’t want someone to pounce on it and snatch it from under my nose.

    2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?

There wasn’t one. Just the domain was bought on WordPress, the site was hosted elsewhere.

The domain expired four months ago.

Then you simply purchase it again if it has not been purchased by someone else. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#please-remember

If only it was that easy. Its stuck in this weird loop where domain registrars tell me its not available (including WordPress) and visiting the URL redirects to WordPress.com, but the DNS lookup says it’s registered by Wild West Domains, but that I’m the registrar.

It is highly unlikely that someone will suddenly register the domain just because you posted in the forum here, and in refusing to post it you are just making it harder for us to help you.

I’m going to assume you’re speaking of the domain, underarbeid.com, which was connected to the WordPress.com URL, kvinneneimittliv.wordpress.com – all WordPress.com upgrades are connected to a WordPress.com URL even if your site is hosted elsewhere.

That domain expired in May, but we don’t remove the domain immediately when it expires in order to give you time to renew it. Your domain has now been removed from our system and is currently in Redemption with our registrar. It is still possible to get it back, but there is a $80 redemption fee in addition to the regular renewal fee at this point, and I need you to agree to paying that before I can recover the domain. If the recovery fails that amount will be refunded in full.

Your other option is to wait for the expiration process to complete, which could be another 90 days. During this time the registrar can also try to sell the domain at private auction, in which case it won’t be released to the general public.

Let me know how you’d like to proceed.

Hi! I do agree to pay that fee, I just sent you an email but didn’t get a reply so I’ve been waiting for that. Anyway, where do I go or what do I do to pay the redemption fee and the renewal fee? (And what is the amount for that?)
