    Hi,

What is the URL or domain name you are trying to get back?

Please wait for a Staff member to help you.

  • Hi there,

Are you speaking of somethingiscooking.com? That domain expired on 1 August, and has already been removed from our system.

I’m sending you a payment link for that domain via email. Please confirm here once you’ve completed the payment, and we can email our domain provider to restore the domain.

But the site was up till almost six hours ago and the domain expiry shows 2021.

  • The domain was still working until earlier today, because it was still in the 43-day grace period we offer for expired domains. At the end of that period the domain is removed and goes into redemption at our domain provider.

The expiry date in Whois shows 2021 due to how the domain expiration process works on our end.

But your last renewal payment for that domain was in July 2019, and you have not paid to renew it for the current year. You can confirm this in your account’s billing history at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/

I have been on WordPress chat support for the last few hours all he told me was it is not with wordpress but with wildwestdomains. Whereas, in the purchase section it still shows that I’ve been renewing my domain with wordpress every single year. He was not ready to accept this, however.

If my domain is expired why was I not informed about it? Aren’t you supposed to intimate me via email a month before its expiration, if I may ask?

  • Your account does not own any paid plans, so you don’t have access to live chat support.

You have been communicating with private support from our community experts, that is available to free users. They did give you inaccurate information, and I’ve already escalated that with the team that manages those experts to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

We tried to auto-renew your domain several times, but those renewal attempts failed because the charges were declined by your bank. We emailed you to let you know of this, with the last email sent on 1 August. You should also have received emails directly from our domain provider, Wild West Domains.

If you didn’t receive those emails, your email provider might have filtered them into spam, or another folder in the inbox.

So, what can I do now to access my domain? As mentioned before, would you please send me the payment link so that I can renew the domain? Will that work in getting the whole issue fixed?

  • I already emailed the payment link at the time of my first reply. If you don’t see it in your inbox, please check your spam folder. I’m also resending it now.

Once we receive your payment I can email our domain provider to restore the domain. They usually respond within 48 hours, but your domain will not work until they do. There is no way to make this go faster, as this is a manual process on our domain provider’s end.

  • Okay, your payment came through just as I was sending my last reply :)

I’m emailing our domain provider now. We’ll let you know as soon as they reply.

    Thank you.
I have made the payment. Please do the needful.

    Thank you.
Please try to remove the “parked” DNS record too, as soon as you can.
    Fingers crossed.

  • At the moment the domain is in the control of our domain provider, Wild West Domains, and it’s they who are directing it to the parked page. So I’m afraid that will only go away once they restore the domain to our account.

Meanwhile you should be able to still access your site at the free WordPress.com URL.

Could you give me an update on this please? My work is getting impacted.

  • Domain recoveries can take up to 48 hours. Please be patient. We’ll update you here as soon as your domain is restored.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thank you. But it has been 48hrs already? Please tell me you’ve contacted your domain provider and I expect the domain to be restored anytime from now?

  • Hi there,

I’m writing to let you know that the domain somethingiscooking.com has been restored to your account. You’ll find it at Manage > Domains in your dashboard. Let us know if you have further questions!
