Retrieving my old blog posts from a deleted site

    Hi there! I recently had to cancel my website, and my blog posts are still appearing here, but I can’t seem to access them. They aren’t uploading from my site backup data. Any suggestions on how I can retrieve them? Thanks!

    Hi there,

    Your site wasn’t hosted with us on WordPress.com, but was only connected here via the Jetpack plugin. The data you can still see for your site in the dashboard here on WordPress.com is the data Jetpack has cached for your site from when it used to be connected here. But that isn’t a full backup of your complete post content, and there’s no way to download that and restore it to another site.

    In fact, if I view My Sites for your account, nothing loads for me at all, so what you’re seeing might even just be cached locally in your browser, and the next time you clear your browser cache that will be gone as well.

    So I’m afraid from our end there’s no way to retrieve your content, as your content was never actually on our servers. All that I’m able to do here is to remove what’s now a not-working Jetpack connection so the site no longer appears under your WordPress.com account. Please let me know if you want me to do that.

    If you didn’t keep your own backups of the site, or don’t have a backup containing the specific content you’re trying to recover, the only people who might still be able to help with this is your hosting provider. But that will depend on whether your hosting plan includes backups, and how long those backups are kept.

    It also looks like the Internet Archive has snapshots of your site going back to 2001, so it’s possible you could retrieve your content from there. But those are static snapshots of your site over time, not downloadable backups, so the only way to recover your content from there would be to copy-paste it manually:
