Retrieving old blog posts

  I had a self-hosted blog on WordPress in 2018 (www.turtleandbuddys.com/blog) that I moved to the free site because I was no longer running a business. All the posts I put on the hosted site are no longer available. I have a huge folder that contains the last backup of my hosted site before I let the website expire on GoDaddy. I compressed the file and tried to upload it and it didn’t work. Is there any way to retrieve my old blog posts and upload them to my current site (free WordPress)?

  It sounds like the compressed folder has a lot of things we don’t recognize. Is it possible for you to briefly restore it with your old host, then import using these steps?
