Retrospectively changing author in RSS feed

  Hi folks,

  I’ve recently changed the user name on my blog and changed the author name on all of the previous posts accordingly. However, my old user name still shows up on older posts in the RSS feed. Is there any way of forcing it to see the new author name?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi,

  This is only based on what I understand from WordPress’s code (and it might be wrong), but here’s what I can tell:

  • If the RSS feed is already saved and displayed in a feed reader app/website (Feedly, etc), then there’s no way the author name can be changed in older posts, as it is already saved in that reader prior your name changes and will likely not be updated by the reader app.
  • If someone new subscribed to the RSS feed after you did the changes, she will get to see the new author name.

  I’ve done a bit of experimenting by subscribing in different feed readers and this seems to be the case. Thanks for your reply!
