Return to old domain name
-
Hi,
I changed the name of my blog. I have since decided that I would like to return to the original name, either by migrating the content back to it and deleting the new blog or simply changing the name of the new blog to the old name and deleting the original.
When I was changing the name of the blog in the first place, I did not realise that I was creating a new blog and migrating my content to it. I thought you could simply change the domain name freely.
Kind regards,
MarcThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well you just learned the hard way that what’s stated in the support docs is true. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Or you can do that first and then you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

You can’t:
The final option presented on this screen allows you to discard your current address. This option will permanently disable the address and you will not be able to reuse it. Only select this option if you are sure you will not use the address again.
