Returning to the wordpress.com domain

I currently have a custom domain but would like to terminate that and return to my free wordpress domain. How can I do this without losing any of my content

To switch, log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard and go to Store–>Domains. Then switch your primary domain to be your ______.wordpress.com domain.

You can also go to Store–>My Upgrades and cancel the Domain Mapping. That should do the same thing.
