    Hi there,

If you edit a reusable block, it will edit all versions of that reusable block. An alternative for this is to create a block you wish to reuse and then copy-paste it between pages (or copy the original page/post with it in and create new content after that).
If you meant you’re having trouble editing it at all, going to https://wordpress.com/types/wp_block will lead you to a page where you can edit reusable blocks individually.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi

Thanks for your suggestion which jogged my memory.

I have already created a block which I have used on several pages. But because that block contains a Caxton layout I am now unable to edit it.

For me I have to use /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_block on my site url to get to the reusable blokc page. Finally found this by opening a page editor then selecting reusable blocks the pressing the Manage All Reusable Block link.

Why this is not accessable from the page editor without having to go into each article I don’t know.

    regards

    David

I personally don’t know how to solve this, but I’m sure another volunteer or staff member will be able to help shortly! :)

I agree with you! It took me a member of staff telling me about the ability to manage all reusable blocks to find it.

I was able to edit the block once I was able to find my way to the list of all reusable blocks.

Perhaps an option to get to then a bit easier would help in the future.

  • Hi there,

What is your site’s URL? The account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites on WordPress.com.

You mention a Caxton layout. Are you speaking of Caxton in South Africa that runs local newspaper websites? If so, those sites were built using the open source version of WordPress, made by the people on WordPress.org.

Support for that version of WordPress is provided by the community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, and it’s also that community who makes the block editor. They’re already working on making this easier to find at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/13390.

Yes as mentioned I am using WordPress.org CMS on my own servers. When I search for WordPress related information I often get bought back to WordPress.com where I have an account.
I Guess I need to really delete myt WordPress.com account so I can focus on WordPress.org. Bit crazy really as they are one of the same.

  • There’s no need to delete your account, it’s just good to know the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org so you can get help faster if you need it :)

Can this support just be tansferred to the correct suppoort area?

  • WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two independent entities so no, I’m afraid this can’t be done. You will want to create a new post on https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
