Reuse deleted domain

    When does a deleted WordPress free domain become available to be used again (for me or anyone else)? I deleted my blog with .wordpress.com extension for some reason but now when I need it back, I cannot find the name available. I can access the blog and it says the authors have deleted the site. Which is true but when can someone use the deleted site’s name to create a new site? Or is it lost forever? Or is there a way to recover reclaim my domain/site/name again?

    Hi there,

    What is the URL you deleted?

    Free WordPress.com addresses never become available again if they’re deleted. We can restore a deleted WordPress.com site at the request of the site owner for 30 days after deletion. But after 30 days the address is permanently disabled, and can never be used again by anyone, not even the original owner.

    This is explained in the warnings on the confirmation screen when deleting a WordPress.com site, and in our support page at https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

    Thanks for the quick reply. The URL I am trying to recover is “orklidworld.wordpress.com”. I just created and also deleted it today. It was a mistake in the first place as initially, I wanted to have this URL with a different WordPress account (and I misunderstood the warning). But anyway, all that matters now is that somehow if I could have it back. What is the procedure to follow in order to restore the URL?

    If you want to use this address with a different account, you can transfer ownership of the site as explained here:

    Make sure the other account exists already before you do this. If you haven’t created the other account yet, log out of this account then visit this link to register the new account: https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/
