Reusing a domain name

  Does anyone know how long it takes after WordPress.com support stuff remove a domain registered to the wrong account before you can re-register into the correct account?

  Aloha templecontracting, I’m not sure in this specific example, but I know DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to take effect. This is likely a question a staff member would be better able to answer for you and I have I have added the modlook tag to this thread.

  Hi there,

  What is the URL of the domain that was removed from the other account? I would like to see if we did cancel the domain. In theory, it could take several weeks for a canceled domain to be available again for registration, but I wanted to take a look at the specific account so that I can look further into the issue.

  The domain was templecontracting.com.au

  I really need to be able to register it soon as we wanting to deploy other DNS entries in the domain at the same time.

  Hey there,

  I checked and templecontracting.com.au was never registered to WordPress.com, it was only mapped. So, it is registered elsewhere – it looks like Melborne IT from the WhoIs data. I would check with them about the domain.

  It’s not the domain registration that is the issue; it is the fact that it was mapped.

  I need to be able to map it into another account? Is there a time limit?

  This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.

  The site is currently known as templecontractingblog.wordpress.com.

  I need to sign up for a Premium plan.

  Do I need set up the plan first so you can add the domain?
