reusing previous site address
-
I had a good site address (E.g., mysitename.wordpress.com). For various reasons I changed the address in the site’s Settings – Change your sites address.
I would now like to use the old address. Unfortunately, WordPress says the site has already been used. When I type in the address I get a webpage that states, ‘The authors have deleted this site.’
Is there anyway to recover the old address? If not, it seems like a waste of potentially good addresses.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi mikeschmidt69,
What is old address you would like to use again?
Just let me know and we can go from there.

The address I have now is not bad: theschmidtseu.wordpress.com
Without the “eu” would be better. I just thought it was odd that if an address was used once it seemed forever gone even if the site was deleted.

I’m afraid it’s been more than 30 days since that address was removed from our system, so it is now no longer possible to restore it and you won’t be able to use it again.
-
Do you mind me asking…. what happens to the address after 30 days?
I mean, why after 30 days can’t it be made available to any WordPress customer (including myself) to use?
-
It’s not possible to recover a site after 30 days. If we could help in any way we would be happy to do so.
At 30 days after deletion the site is permanently removed from our system.

I appreciate the prompt responses, thanks!
There might be some confusion though. I am not interested in recovering the site or any of its content so it is OK that it is permanently deleted. I am just interested in using the URL, theschmidts.wordpress.com for a new site.

I understand you just want the URL, but that cannot be restored either. The way our system currently works does not allow re-using a deleted free address. This might change in future, but right now there is no way for us to reactivate that address for you again.
