Revamped Media Library Concerns

  It looks like you took away my ability to locate images in my media library by date. I am constantly reusing images from my extensive library and the way I formerly located them was by month of first use. Now you’re asking me to slowly scroll through hundreds of images looking for what I need. Am I missing something or did you really take away a very functional way of searching for images?

  Hi there,

  I think you can still do this! At least, I can.

  If you go to your Media Library, and click “All Media,” you should see a selection box that says “all dates” but you can switch it to any month that you’ve uploaded images in, and filter by month.

  Is that what you’re looking for?

  Zandyring, I guess I wasn’t explicit enough in my explanation. I’m talking about the process of inserting previously used media from my Media Library into a new post. When I am writing a new post and I click on the Add Media button, I now get hundreds of images with no real way to find or sort them. In the past, I could look up a previously used image by the date I first posted it. I have 718 images stored in my Media Library and few of them have real file names (eliminating the possibility of using the search box). Scrolling through them all is not fun; at 30 images per screen that’s 20+ screens to search. Thanks for helping out!

  Oh, I see – you’re right, I didn’t “get it” the first time :)

  Yes, now that I’m testing this, you’re right (of course). That’s a great suggestion for a future tweak to the media uploader, and I’m happy to submit that for you to the team.

  Zandyring – Thanks! I may be the rare person that would want this attribute, but it’s been the way I used WordPress for five years now. I’d love to see this ability reinstated. It’s great of you (and WordPress) to provide such responsive feedback.
