Reverse domain mapping (multisite, MU domain mapping plugin)
-
Hi, I am super-admin of a multisite installation. I wanted to map a domain I own (irsi2016.de) to one of the subdomains within our multisite environment (such that if someone calls the irsi2016 domain, he or she will be redirected to the multisite subdomain). So, I installed the MU domain mapping plugin, but the opposite of what I wanted to do happened: The subdomain is now mapped to irsi2016.de and I cannot reverse it. On the network admin page, I deleted the respective entry under Settings/Domains, but the mapping is still there. Also tried deleting sunrise.php and the line “define( ‘SUNRISE’, ‘on’ );” in wp-config.php. Nothing happens, the domain mapping just seems irreversible. What can I do?

Hi rationality2016,
I am super-admin of a multisite installation.
Can you confirm the URL of the site you are working on?
Thanks!

ok, I think I just solved it myself by network deactivating the plugin. I have no idea why I did not have this option before.

Hi rationality2016,
Glad you’ve been able to get it sorted.
irsi-school.de is a WordPress.org site hosted by Strato (rather than WordPress.com). We have some information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org in this guide:
We are only able to help with WordPress.com sites here. However, these forums are a great place for getting advice and tips for self hosted sites:

I hope this helps :)
