Reverse order of projects shown in portfolio embed

    Portfolios embedded via the shortcode [portfolio] show only the oldest projects. How can I reverse this order? In the portfolio embed on my start page I’d like to showcase my most recent projects instead of the oldest ones.

    I use the Pilcrow theme on WordPress.com. “sort_order:DESC” doesn’t work here.

    Hi Martin,

    I wasn’t clear precisely where on the homepage your portfolio was embedded (using Google Translate to view the site).

    However, my understanding is that the wordpress.com shortcode for portfolio doesn’t have a ‘sort’ option. Typically, you could do this with a self-installed version (using some backend code), but for the moment, the easier solution might be to manually alter the dates of your portfolio pieces.

    You can Quick Edit on your Posts page in the Admin panel and just change the post dates to something that will force them to sort how you like. Keep in mind that if you have outside links coming into those portfolio posts, they could be broken and cause a 404 error though.

    If you can explain more specifically what you want to do, I might be able to help with other ideas.

    thank you for your reply. The page I’m trying this out on isn’t published yet so you wouldn’t have found it, I’m sorry. I’ll use your suggestion for the time being but still hope that a sorting of the portfolio will be possible in the future.

    I’d like to showcase different types of projects on a start page (which I’m still putting together) and would like to have appear under different subheadings the three most recent projects of each type (in my case, publications I’m writing for).

    It really would be great if I could file my projects (articles I wrote freelance, for the most part) under the date they were published. But until that option is available I’ll do what you suggested.

    Hi Martin, I know it’s been a while, but I wanted to let you know that it’s now possible to order portfolio projects in several different ways using the shortcode.
