Revert me to Classic Editor
-
When I logged in today you have changed the appearance of everything to what I can only assume is Block. I’ve never understood that and last year established Classic Editor as my default. But Classic is not offered anywhere on my “Home” page, nor can I see a WPAdmin link. And you have emptied my directories showing zero files in them all, posts and pages and settings. Please revert my blog to the way it was last week. Thanks.

Hi @andypolaris, it sounds like you’re referring to the menu changes. We have a sticky post about that here, and the good news is you can set the menu links to default to wp-admin pages if you’d like.
https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/unified-navigation/Once you’ve changed that, it shouldn’t have much bearing on whether you use Classic or Block, although I would advise trying to get used to block and telling us about any issues you’re having so we can work on resolving those.

Sorry supernova but none of that means anything to me. The “unified navigation” link you give doesn’t seem to be about my problem at all. and the page with the bear face doesn’t look like my directory. What is Calypso? I don’t speak geek and most of those manual pages defeat me. I just want the blog back which I knew how to edit last week.

Hi there,
Sorry for the confusion. Last year we retired the classic editor from the WordPress.com dashboard, but you can still use the features of the classic editor through the classic editor block:

Here is our recent article explaining the move:
You can still visit the wp-admin dashboard (http://example.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) and use the classic editor there:

We also have information on transitioning to the Block Editor, and Frequently Asked Questions.
Hope this helps.

Thanks darnelidibbles. That was a tricky moment in itself.
My eyes glaze over at your pages explaining the new blocks and I just don’t get it. -
It definitely takes some time, but I am confident that once you spend some time with the new editor and its features, you’ll come to get the hang of the new format. Of course, if there is anything in particular that you have questions regarding the block, let us know, and we’d be happy to assist.
Thanks,

Hi folks, I don’t often link to my own content, but @andypolaris this post might help simplify working with the Block Editor.
WordPress.com also published a guide specifically for writers and bloggers that you can find here https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor-for-writers-bloggers/
Hope that helps.
