Reverting back to a wordpress.com domain name from a custom domain name

I would like to go from the custom domain name I have previously been using, back to the standard wordpress.com domain name and therefore the free blog. I figured out how to switch the primary domain setting already, but was wondering about pricing moving forward: obviously I won’t need to pay the $18 fee for the custom domain, but what about the $8 fee for private domain registration? Do I still need to pay that if I’m just using a wordpress.com domain name, or does that privacy protection not even apply if you’re not creating your own new domain?

    Thanks very much!

    Hi there,

The privacy only applies to custom domains, so your site will be completely free.

Would you like me to cancel out your domain name for you, since you aren’t using it anymore? Make sure it doesn’t get autorenewed and prevent you from receiving any notification emails about it expiring, etc?

Yes, please — that would be very helpful if you would do that. Thank you very much!!

OK, that’s sorted for you! Let me know if you have any other issues or questions!
