Reverting back to Windows Live Spaces
-
I want to express the same concern as chuatekming over the losing of my drafts. I used drafts as a way to keep private / personal notes that I did not want to publish to the internet, but wanted to keep for my own use.
It’s true that in the conversion process it says that drafts will not be imported over. Fair enough. However there is no warning in the import process that once the live space is imported, the old space will be forever inaccessible.
I know this isn’t the fault of the WordPress staff who is commendable and working extremely hard. But on MS’s part, this is completely excusable and outrageous to have a large number of people permanently lose data through an “upgrade” process.
Please keep working on the draft issue. I would really like to go and recover that data before it is lost forever. The ideal (and seems to me, simplest) solution is for MS to simply provide a link to the old site data that does not redirect to wordpress. I can’t imagine that during the import process they just delete all of the old live spaces data.

I decided to make my own migration tool to blogspot.com instead, you can read more about it here: http://st185cs.wordpress.com

@anthonygreene, all this needs to be taken up with Microsoft. The drafts, the fact that you cannot access them after you migrate. That is all on their end.
@st185, you’re reinventing the wheel. This site already does that and had been doing it for years.

I’ll just reiterate here that if you believe something went wrong with your import, please contact us at WordPress.com support: http://support.wordpress.com/contact/.
We will be happy to help you out.

You, markel, are a brave man for facing the angry masses, and so professionally. I commend you.
Now, could you explain if or how the blog posts (not drafts) that were lost in the import process are recovered? I just sent a message to the contact thing, but I’ve yet to hear if the lost blog posts are actually returned to their owners. I’ve only heard “go to this link and message them.”
