Hi there, on which site are you trying to revert to the Classic Editor?
Some themes on WordPressdotcom, like any of the Varia child themes https://wordpress.com/theme/varia do not have the option of using the Classic Editor. In order to switch to the Classic Editor on such a site using one of those themes, you’d need to change your site’s theme to one of the older WordPressdotcom themes.
Post back here if you need more help with this.

Thanks Justjennifer; appreciated your response. The fact is that I succeeded in using the classic texting style on my blog for more than 5 months; and suddenly it changed to the automated block-methods – a very frustrating experience; in fact it made me think to change away from WordPress to some other options. I would like to stay in WordPress but need the older reliable text space to write in a comfortable way. There was nothing wrong with it. So I don’t think my choice of theme is the problem. There must be a way to revert to the classical mode.

Hello again. I see you are using Independent Publisher 2 and you should be able to switch back to the Classic Editor via the three dots that appear at the top right of the Editor screen. Do you see this option when you click them?

If you don’t see that option to “Switch to Classic Editor”, please return to this thread and add the MODLOOK tag in the Tags section of the thread’s sidebar for Staff assistance in reverting.

The “switch to Classic Editor” option does not appear unfortunately; looking at the location you indicated above.

Hi there,
I can see that option in the editor for that site, at https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/diskoers.home.blog
Make sure you’re looking at the editor for the correct site. You have another site currently set to the block editor, https://uilboskuns.wordpress.com/, and on that site you won’t see the option, as that site is set to the new Maywood theme that was specifically designed to work with the block editor. If you switch that site to an older theme, you’ll be able to switch back to the classic editor for that site as well.

I discovered now that I can toggle into classic editor mode AFTER I started and entered text in a block; so the block format seems to be a mandatory starting format.
I do succeed to toggle into the classic editor FROM WITHIN the block of text I am working with at any one time; therefore it is not the same as in the older versions. But I may be able to cope with this method…. we’ll see. Thanx. -
You are referring to the classic block, which is not the same thing as the classic editor. That is merely a block inside the block editor which mimics the behaviour of the classic editor.
You also don’t need to create a block and then switch it to the classic block. You can add a classic block the same you you do any other block, by clicking the + sign, or by typing
/classic.There is no requirement to add anything to the editor for the option pictured by @justjennifer above to appear, and I can see that option just fine in the editor for your site at diskoers.home.blog
I’ve gone ahead and set that site back to the classic editor for you.

Much, much appreciated. Thank you.
I have checked and it is back to normal with the classical editor!!
This mode gives me most of what I need to do, without any confusing actions. I understand the functionalities you intended with the block editor, but I hope classical editor will always be available as well. Great stuff. I’m on the road again.
