reverting to classic editor with free account?
-
I am a registered blind web support developer for the ParishOfPrestatyn website, it’s the website for our parish and churches and as such is a charity.
As a blind developer, I rely on accessibility in all pages using a mac with VoiceOver running and my developer tools, as well as braille support for hard coding.
One of the problems I’m facing is the ‘Blocks’ mode which I can’t escape from. It prevents me from proper navigation and editing of pages, etc and as such effects the administration of the website.
Is there any way you could assist me with changing the way this account works so that the original ‘Classic Editor’ is used by default and that ‘blocks’ is removed?
Sorry to ask this, but if it can’t be done or you want to make money from a church who’s now crippled by the coronavirus (COVID19), we can’t afford it, I am donating my time and speciality in to crafting and supporting the management of this site. as such my own work has been affected by the CoronaVirus as a church organist.
Please could you help?

You can switch back to the Classic Editor, even on a free plan.
To restore the Classic Editor, follow the steps under “Will I still be able to use the old editor?” at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
If that doesn’t work for you, please let us know the URL of the site you need to change, and we’ll take care of it.
We do recommend the new editor though, and we have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/

Hi, sorry but the guide given doesn’t offer me this fix, the option to go to classic mode doesn’t exist and I’m being constantly forced to use blocks which causes issues with accessibility software and terminal code for braille support.
the website is:
http://parishofprestatyn.wordpress.com
If I could just use the old style editor and not be hounded by blocks requests or forced to use blocks, that would be so much easier to navigate for me.

No worries, I understand. We’re working on improving the new Block Editor’s accessibility, but it’s not 100% there yet.
I have switched that site to the Classic Editor for you.

Thank you for this, this helps a fair bit.
I do have one problem though, I can’t use CSS globally and the site wants me to pay to upgrade to CSS, this is a non-profit church page, we can’t afford these costs, They’ve asked me to step in as an admin to make the website accessible and support it as I’m the only one with developer background, yet the work I need to do, I can’t easily do, if at all. I rely on CSS and HTML editing for custom accessibility and function enhancements to sites like this, as they can’t afford a full website, this as a blog is the nearest thing possible, so with this, I need CSS access. There’s no funding, now this coronavirus issue has really taken hold, doors to churches will be closed in most places and we are working on unique solutions.

Hello,
Back to blogging after a bit and really would like the classic editor instead of Gutenberg. How do I go about doing this? Find lots of info for WordPress.org but not .com.
My website is http://www.denversews.comI’ve tried the step-by-step but I fail to make it to the classic editor.
Thank you in advance,
