RE:Videopress, can video play as MP4?, Also branding?
-
Hello:
I just purchased the Videopress upgrade.
We encode in MP4 with h.264 codec in baseline or above profiles. We do this to accomodate users of apple portable devices. We also utilize multipass outputting to preserve the best quality at farily low bit rates.
However, the system appears to have converted our MP4 file into a Flash file and with noticable degradation of the video quality.
Can parameters be set so that Videopress can play the video in its native encoding? Given that our compression is about 400 Kbps, there should not be any bandwidth or file size issues. The degradation in video quality is quite possibly due to arbitrary setting of keyframe distances and lack of multipass encoding during transcoding. This can casue havoc with high motion scenes. This is why we use an outboard encoder (Squeeze 6.5) and implement very specific encoding parameters. Other factors can create degradation as well.
Anyhow, my question is if Videopress can play videos and preserve all size, container and encoding parameters, and not get converted into Flash?
Also, the video show up in our blog with the “Videopress” logo at the lower right hand corner of the screen. Is there away to have this removed, or substitute our own logo?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe I just missed it, but I think the branding is new? I signed up only a few days ago and this would have been a deal-breaker right away. So I’m here to second this question. iOS support and branding? Any news?

Adobe Flash Player 9 added support for MP4 demuxing and H.264 and AAC decoding.
We encode MP4 (H.264 video and AAC-LC audio) files in a single pass.

Unfortunately, no. We choose the best video to display to the viewer depending on a variety of criteria.

Custom branding is only available to WordPress.com VIP users.
iOS support?
We are currently in the process of developing an HTML5 player.
