Rich ? – 2015 sidebar sizing
-
Are you about to go offline or anything? – because I need your deepest attention to this problem. That is, provided you feel that the size of the sidebar header (which I now know is designed for some insanely wide screen) is your area …?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

M.R., I’ll take a look in a little while for you. Can you explain what it is you are wanting to accomplish on the sidebar? I’ve seen your other thread with @gracejiyoung.

Hurro ! – and HNY to you, guru …
If you’ve seen that (which I was going to draw to your attention, I promise), you know that she’s telling me about something called CSS Media Queries. Ostensibly in order, I get the impression, to enable me to specify exactly what I want to be seen on this vertical header.
I shall wait indefinitely, me old china; it’s not urgent. But it does require input from YOOO(u).

Sorry for the delay, let’s first get an idea of exactly how you want your sidebar/header image to work, and then we will see if we can pull a magic rabbit out of the hat and get you what you want.

Oh BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER !!!!!
Rich darlin, I just wrote an incredibly lengthy and detailed request and, I thought, posted it here … and then realised I had done it under my other bloody ‘persona’. I have no idea where it’s gone: how does it happen that it can just disappear ?
Anyway, I shall have to re-write and re-screengrab everything, and under a cloud of aged grumpiness; so I hope you will forgive me and just roll your eyes … -

what it looks like on my screen (and those of my blogging friends – well, not on their smartphones, I imagine)http://snag.gy/QPI5b.jpg
actual 954 X 1300 .jpgI do like this theme: it suits my style – whatever that is. But I would like to be able to change the sidebar image and matching coloured bits every so often (OKOK, every fairly often !).
What I’m currently doing is re-sizing to 1300 deep, then cropping to 954 wide, and thus ending up with an image such as you see in the second screengrab – with which I’m happy. But because the designers in their wisdom have decided to be ruled by technology in its ever-increasing freneticism, I’m seeing roughly half of any image.
Is there any way in which your rabbit could be persuaded to emerge from the hat bearing some magical but to me unimaginable CSS code to allow me to know EXACTLY what size to create an image so as to show it in its entirety, please, Mandrake ? [grin]

M.R. sorry for the big delay on this. We can position the image more in the sidebar area with the following CSS.
body:before { background-position: center top; }Let’s see what you think of that and we can go from there. Make sure and narrow your browser window so you can also see what things look like when the sidebar goes below the content and the image moves to a header position.

‘Morning, Rich me old china ! – and HEAPS of thanks for this !!!!
I did as you instruct re making the window smaller; but I don’t see the sidebar going below the content at all: it looks to me as if the ‘header’ is simply abbreviated – and that looks just fine ! :-)
Please don’t apologise for any delay: if I need something in a hurry and you’re not around (as you haven’t been), I’ll ‘go general’.
