Rich … a fundamental kind of question
-
I’ve done so MUCH farting about within this delightful them that I’ve over-written to the power of about 8 some of the colours, and still I’m not happy. Anyway.
The f.q. is this: if I wanted to return to the ORIGINAL version of the theme and start out again so as to erase all those over-writings, how would that best be done ?
Pleeease?
:-)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you talking about within the CSS, or at Appearance > Customize > Colors?
If in the CSS, you can just go in and remove all background color and/or color declarations. If you want to remove all the CSS, delete all the CSS from the CSS edit window and save and everything will go back to the original.
-
Oh ! – will it ?
Bloody marvellous. [grin]
I’ve had problems in the past with CSS kind of hanging around (MANY months ago, with ‘Newsy’); and I didn’t know that simply deleting it all would work like that.
Amazing how stupid some people can be, innit ?
Ah well: an easy day for you, m’dear.
Thanks very much. -
No, it don’t work in regard to the colors.
All the formatting returns to default; but the colours don’t change one iota.
Sighh …
It might mean I have to delete all CSS, change to another theme and then back to Blog Simple …
But I reckon even that isn’t going to remove the colors.

Have you set custom colours from any of the other Appearance > Customize options (depending on the theme it could be in various places). Also have you tried clearing your browser cache as most browsers have good memories and try to remember all your CSS so they can be quicker next time you view a page. Let us know if it works.
-
Oh. The cache never occurred to me, Luke !!!
I’ll give it a bash and get back to you.
Thanks, mate ! -
-
I see you have a custom color set in Appearance > Customize > Colors. There is a button in that section that allows you to switch back to the default colors.
In addition to your computer cache, there can be invisible proxy servers between you and the WordPress servers that can at times get a little slow to upload new files. That isn’t typically much of an issue lately, but it has been sometimes in the past.
I’ve seeing your site with a light brown/tan and maroon text and a maroon area around the content. Is that what you are seeing?

bian12cunghoangdao, if you’re having trouble with Jetpack, please post at http://jetpack.me/contact-support/ and include a link to your site as well as a detailed description of the problem.
-
Rich – thank heavens you’re back. Yes.

You seem to think I haven’t tried the basic default for colors !!
There appears to be NOTHING I can do to return to default. -
Ok, hopefully I haven’t messed you up, but I went into Appearance > Customize > Colors in your dashboard and clicked the “Default” button and it has returned to the base blue and tan color I saw on your site originally.
If that is not what you wanted, I’ll be hiding under a rock in an undisclosed location.
-
Oh, I’ve done that, too.
But I don’t WANT that blue: I want it to revert to default in every regard.
And I’m pretty sure it’s not going to, no matter what.
Never mind, Rich – I’ll live with it.PLEASE don’t hide in an undisclosed location !! – I’d have to give up blogging.
-
We can fix it. Do you want the red that is on the demo site? If so, this is the color code #bd3040 which you can enter at Appearance > Customize > Colors after clicking the link to the color picker.
-
No. The red I’m using, #6B0000, is eye-dropped from an item on the cover of my book. All very precious, eh ? [grin]
But it really is OK now, Rich: I’ve stopped being totally and insanely obsessive, and have dropped the whole issue because it’s really not possible to clear all the colors I added.
So I’ve adjusted them again to where I can cope with ’em.
You’re still my hero. -

Crikey ! – what a delightful surprise to hear from you on a weekend day, Rich me old mate ! You’ve quite made my weekend ! :-)
I know you’re a big family man, but I had no idea you were in a position to say to your nearest and dearest “Christ almighty ! – look at what the mad woman’s done NOW !!!” [grin] -
I applaud your enthusiasm and dig-into-it attitude, so I would never refer to you as a mad woman. :)
