Rich … for when you're back on duty

    Simply couldn’t live with those colours.
    InfoWay, now. Decided I really like the excerpts-on-the-front-page aspect.
    Done a fair bit already, but not nearly enough:
    http://snag.gy/PNXHN.jpg
    Some impossibilities for me:
    (1) Need to make the footer (meta) text at the bottom of the content smaller – don’t know what it’s caught up with:
    http://snag.gy/24QSX.jpg
    (2) Finding it impossible to make the Open Sans 300 for any headings, regardless of adding !important:
    http://snag.gy/ZdXrE.jpg
    (3) can’t for the life of me center those 3 icons at the top of the sidebar
    (4) can’t center the menu-bar
    (5) dunno why in each of the WP sidebar widgets re posts read and/or liked, the first dot point of each is a different colour !

    There now – and you thought you were going to have a boring Monday … [grin]

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Sorry – how could I have forgotten this one ?
    I’d like to occupy much more of the page, if poss., please, Rich.

    Hi,

    (1) Seems you have this one taken care of.

    (2) You need to go to Appearance > Customize > Fonts and in the Headings section, select “Light” instead of “Regular”. With it set to regular, just like before, you cannot make it lighter than the chosen font style, and regular is heavier than 300.

    (3) Open that text widget and change “alignnone” to “aligncenter” for each of the images.

    (4) In your .menu_bar rule, remove the width declaration and add a text-align: center; and then add the following:

    .navigation-main ul {
        display: inline-block;
    }

    (5) Remove the following from your custom CSS.

    .sidebar ul li:first-child {
        color: #9e9e9d;
        font-size: 13px;
    }

    I’d like to occupy much more of the page, if poss

    This will take some work to sort out because there are several competing rules in your CSS. I’m signing off for the night and will work on it on Monday.

    Oh ! – then you were working through Sunday, too ! – must be (now I come to think of it) something to do with the Conference taking you all away for a few days. No fair ! – you guys need your weekends.
    Anyway.
    No, I’ve done nothing with no. 1, and it’s still looking like a large font-size at my end !
    No. 2 – sighh … J H C ! I’m a dickhead.
    No. 3 – I’m MORE of a dickhead.
    No. 4 – Got it !, and done.
    No. 5 – Done, but why ? That too me a month to find; and was to reduce the font-size of the blog stats. Now they’re large and lumbering again. ???
    Thank you very much, Rich. I hope it didn’t take you too long to get home; and I believe you would never need to take the long way. [grin]
    (But you’ll only get that if, like me, you’re a Supertramp fan.)

    Rich, me favourite helpful soul …
    Don’t waste any time on my request for widening, eh ?
    I’ve had whinges about this theme that I can only agree with, so I shan’t be sticking with it.
    Btw and fyi: I save ALL the themes’ CSS records, as I think one can only access them to a certain point in the past, and it isn’t all that far in the past,either. I never know when I might want to have another bash !
    So all your input is on file – not just in one incredibly long history of my whingeing at yer … [grin]

    Well, you can save the following in your Infoway file then. :)

    1. Are you talking about where it says, “this entry was posted…” below the sharing stuff on the single post pages? If so, you can use the following to target that text.

    .hentry footer {
        font-size: 80%;
    }

    2 & 3. No you are not a DH. :)

    4. Great

    5. We can specifically target the blog stats widget with the following to reduce the font size.

    .widget_blog-stats li {
        font-size: 80% !important;
    }

    I thank you.
    I always thank you.
    Because you are very thankable. Should that be thankible ? Yes, I think so (if it were a word, of course !).
    I’m beginning to wonder if my incessant theme-changing is because (1) I derive great pleasure from seeing what I can do on my own first, and (2) then derive an equal amount from seeing how you fix the rest.
    I am going back to bed now.
