Rich … I really need some intelligent input, please !

    Have just created my new ‘nav’ workaround.
    Apart from having entirely forgotten that a sticky post only shows when you’re looking at the whole blog and not any new post (or search, etc.), I have a major problem …
    *I* – apparently alone ! – cannot click on the first image icon and be taken to the linked page. Seems everyone else can !
    When I click on the book, another window duly opens but it is THE SAME (ORIGINAL) window.
    Who can help me, please, Rich …?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Are you still having this issue? I too am having no issues getting to the ATLMD-2 page.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am. I logged out of WP, but couldn’t get anything other than the same page in a new window. I logged out of my computer and logged back in. Still couldn’t reach the book page. Logged back in to WP. No dice.
    It’s insanity !!

    Rich me old … even though it makes ZERO sense, I deleted the shortlink as the linking code and replaced it with the link copied from the URL bar, and it now works for me. FINALLY.
    But with my luck, that might’ve stopped it working for everyone else !
    So would you check for me please, mate ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Well, it works for me in Firefox and Safari, so I think you are good to go.

    If I may ask you something else, seeing as how this thread is so utterly relevant to only moi …?
    The table that holds the categories is far too widely spread. I do realise that I can do nothing about its WIDTH, inasmuch as this is a theme that makes everything fill the whole content are (incl. videos); but I tried to tighten the verticals, and got nowhere.
    Am I pushing shit uphill with that, too, please, Rich ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Well, as long as you don’t put so much pressure on me by asking for “intelligent input,” add this CSS to tighten up the top spacing on your main page.

    .home .entry-content {
        padding-top: 0;
        margin-top: 0;
    }

    Your table on the main page is also not resizing when the browser window is narrowed. I’ll work on that and see if I can get things to resize for smaller screens and devices, but there is a limit to what I might be able to do since there is no way the three image will fit on a phone horizontally. Let me see what I can do though.

    You remain my hero.
    I know I must drive you bonkers, you poor bastard !
    It’s all your own fault, you know: if you weren’t so bloody helpful, none of this would happen !
    [grin]

  • Unknown's avatar

    MR, not having much luck getting the table and images to resize properly. If I have a little time tomorrow, I’ll set up a table and see if I can get things to resize, at least down to a certain point.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yeah I know it’s my fault, and you don’t drive me bonkers. Again, you need to try harder. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Don’t encourage me, mate …
    Here’s where I say THANK YOU VERY MUCH, RICH ..
    and then you say PLEASURE.
    So you needn’t bother now ! :-D

    YER BACK !! Triffic. New question …
    It’s all looking a bit much text; and I was wondering if you agree it might be a good idea to indent the content block ?
    Possible ?
    Oeuf course it is: this is Rich Spees I’m addressing !!! [grin] (Hope you’re influenced by outrageous flattery, me old china …]
    Whaddya reckon, Rich ?

    Are you talking about on your home page, or on posts, or pages, or everywhere?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Sorry darlin – an old friend took me out to lunch as a belated birthday present. You may’ve gone gone by now. :-
    Everywhere.
    The whole blog to be inset a bit on each side of the contents section.
    No …? lousy idea ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Given the background and the content area both have a white background, I’m wondering what this would accomplish. You can try the following and see what you think. The sitecontent (two-third) area already has a right margin of 4% (between the content and sidebar. This adds a 4% left margin to the content.

    article {
        margin-left: 4% !important;
    }

    You could also narrow the entire container area (sidebar/content) by reducing the width in .container in your existing CSS below.

    .container {
        width: 1280px;
    }

    That’s what I sought – your opinion.
    And it’s good enough for me.
    Thanks but no thanks, in fact ! – how’s that for looking a gifthorse in the mouth, eh ? – I ask for code and you supply it and I say I’m not going to use it !
    :-)
    But knowing me, I shall at least play with it, later ..

    No worries. How are you going to know you don’t like something till you try it?
