Rich S. – for Wednesday
-
I should like to make the header taller/higher, please, Rich – so as to be able to put a nice French or Italian still there (I’ve had comments about readers missing the lovely header pic.).
The 140 of the theme simply doesn’t cut it for a header picture – not for me. I know we can make the container for the brand shallower, which might mean we can make the header deeper …?
Sorry about the non-techo language, mate !The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Create your new image with the height you want, keeping the 800px width, upload it to the media library, get the URL of that image and put it into the background declaration where it says URL_OF_IMAGE. Adjust the height to match the height of your image.
#header-image img { visibility: hidden; } #header-image { background: url("URL_OF_IMAGE") no-repeat scroll center top rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); height: 200px; }Sometimes using this procedure above, the original image will appear briefly before the new image, but not always. Do some testing and see if that happens by visiting your site and refreshing the page a few times. If it does appear briefly, let me know and we can use a different approach.

Ah yes, I remember this – sort of.
I’m off to give it a go.
As a certain Californian governor said … I’LL BE BACK !
:-)
Thanks so much, Rich ! -

Been there. Done that. :-) I’m not one iota surprised to be able to report that it worked perfectly !
If you’re feeling as kind as you always are (bit of emotional blackmail, there), would you save me time in farting around with trial and error, please, Rich, and tell me about adding more height to the nav bar, as well as less to the brand container ? -

Sure thing.

I apologise for troubling you with those additional things, Rich, when I was perfectly capable of doing them myself.
I’m an irritating person, and that’s a fact. Not enough faith in my capabilities – and after all the CSS help received from you, one might think I had a better grasp than I do.
Well, I DO ! Have a better grasp than I think I do. :-D
Thanks to you, I do.
This is turning into a madwoman’s poem, so I’ll sign off for now.
I am so grateful for your being there, let alone for all the willing help you offer … -
