Rich – when back to slaving …?
-
Oxygen.
The controls under my slideshows have vanished. http://snag.gy/9fPkn.jpg
I am MORE THAN prepared to admit it’s something I’ve done.

There’s my problem.
:-}The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sure you’ll get better help from Rich, but in the meantime, this seems to be the bit of code that is causing the problem:
#page a { background: transparent !important; }If you tell me what you were fixing with that bit of code maybe we can find a way to meet that goal without sacrificing the slideshow controls.
-
AHA ! – you decided you were feeling masochistic, LTF ? ;-)
Hokay ! As Rich is indubitably enjoying a peaceful Sunday at home or somewhere, let us DO this thing ! :-D
That’s my pathetic effort to achieve no colour behind links, starting with the tiny ‘read article’ one.
I can tell you that this theme has given me almost as much trouble as did Bloggy, inasmuch as doing one thing almost always stuffs up something else. Mind, I’m no exactly the world’s best CSS operator, as Rich could tell you; in fact, what I achieve is largely what he fixes.
Anyvays, that’s where I’m at ! -
Gottcha. This should do it. Remove the bit of code I gave you before then add this:
.read-more{ background:none !important; }You’ve also got this code somewhere
.read-more{ display: none; }If you delete it, the links (now without the background color will appear without having to hover over them.
Let me know if that does it or if we’ve created new issues :)
-
Nup. Still need to hover …
Tell you what, LTF: I’m having professional cleaners in this-morning to do a spring-clean of the flat. Need to shower and dress and everyfing; so will release you from durance vile because there’s nothing quite like offering help only to receive back total silence, eh ?
Forgive me for interrupting the process: typical of me, alas.
:-} -
No worries, it’s getting late where I am so I’ll give you a couple of things to try when you get back.
It looks like this code is still active on your site:
#page a { background: transparent !important; }Removing it is key to the rest of the changes working as they are supposed to. (Also, key to making the slide-show controls return)
I’m also still seeing this code on your page:
.read-more{ display: none; }Once you remove those two snippets you should be set.
If you aren’t able to do that let me know and we should be able to come up with something to counter act their effects.

I’m SO tired.
I do wish this could be solved, my tiredness.
Anyway, getting rid of those did introduce other things: and I’m just too tired to go into details.
Thank you anyway. -

Hurro me old china.
I wish I knew how many hours separated my incessant demands from your so kind responses.
Life is full of such imponderables.

@lizthefair, don’t sell yourself short, if I haven’t said it before, we very much appreciate all your (and everyone’s) help in the forums. You do an awesome job!!!
-
Thanks, Rich. I’ve certainly learned a lot, especially about CSS, hanging out here lo these many months :)
-
LTF, I do apologize for my moan of last night (that is, last night to me): I had a stressful day, and suddenly the old brain just shut down. I will offer you two words that might possibly explain all: MY CAT. But comprehension will depend upon whether or not you’re a cat person. :-}
Rich, thank you. TYFTH, in fact. In Italian grazie dal cuore. :-)
Who d’you reckon is someone to ask about theme criteria ? – meaning, which of the Staff, to the best of your knowledge, could, when I list desired criteria, come up with a response ? I understand this is not a requirement for Staff, for you have better things to do; but I’m kinda hoping that there might be someone to whom it’s a kind of … hobby ?
Pastime ? Interest ? -
Sorry, Rich: have just found your response on the other thread.
I refer you to my response there.
:-D -
Not all theme features are searchable, and even with some of the backyard tools I have at my disposal, it sometimes isn’t easy. Also, there are so many themes here, and new ones being added all the time, that trying to keep up any sort of list is virtually impossible. We are working on revisions and changes to things all the time, and having more search criteria on the Showcase is definitely something many of us want to see.

Anything that saves people like you from people like me is a consummation devoutly to be wished.
:-D
