Right click disable

Hello, I am trying to install the right click disable plugin. I am on free plan, and I have the plugin downloaded from the official wordpress site. I have an option in my admin panel to upload my own plugin, but when I do it, it says there’s an error. What could the problem be?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can not install plugins on the free plan.

    Hi 400mgaday,
you can only upload a plugin if you are on the Business plan and have a public site.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the answers. I was curious, because on my previous blog I had that option and I was on a free plan. Seems there are changes in wordpress’s policies.

    Thanks again!

    Hi 400mgaday

I assume earlier you have uploaded plugin on self-hosted wordpress platform.

The platform is wordpress. Only the domain hosting is different.

According to WP guide I can to upload my own plugin no matter what the plan is. Then it comes out I am not allowed to do that.

If your site is hosted on WordPress.com you have to have a Business plan to upload custom plugins.
I would suggest reading the WordPress.com vs WordPress.org page and the Plugins support page.

Yes, I got that already. Thanks! Like I said, seems there is a change in the policies, because it was different.

I will check the pages. Thanks again!

  • Hi there,

seems there is a change in the policies, because it was different.

The only change in this regard is that up until May last year it was impossible to use plugins on WordPress.com at all. Since May it’s possible, but on the Business Plan only.

If you were previously able to use plugins on your site, your site was not on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at your own host.

As for disable right-click plugins, I assume this is to prevent people copying your content. Plugins like that are not effective at all, as they are very easy to circumvent by someone who have even basic knowledge of how browsers work. They’re as likely to drive people away from your site out of frustration at you breaking basic browser functionality as they are at protecting your content.
