Right now I hate wordpress, it ate my post I just finished.

My draft disappeared, there is no revision, there is no trash! Where is it?

Oh, and I checked the admin page for posts, pages, drafts and trash. Its not in any of them. Basically I wrote a post that was over 1000 words long, which pictures. It took over an hour. I saw revisions. Then when I hit the “save draft” button, the screen went blank, and then I was logged out of wordpress. When I returned, the post, the images and all the history of what I’d done for the last hour and some change were completely gone. Same browser, same computer, no disruption of service, nada. I’m rewriting the whole bloody thing.

Basically I wrote a post that was over 1000 words long, which pictures. It took over an hour.
And if you had done that off-line, then saved it locally, you would have a copy that you could simply paste into a post form and be done.

Yes. Terribly helpful there. It’s just like going into the bathroom, realizing the toilet is broken, and calling your landlord about the problem. To which he replies “well, if you’d just dug a latrine hole outside, you wouldn’t have that problem.”

What I would *like* is to know if there is a glitch with the newest wordpress version that recently came out related to the issue, or why the post disappeared as well as any trash of the post, why it didn’t save the drafts like it has for every other post, and how to get the actual program I opened to use working…
I already rewrote the post. That ship has sailed. But this IS a serious problem that should be fixed, and if nothing else, at least other people can read this and see that they are not alone in finding this issue. That way they can voice their panic as well. So you know, eventually the issue will see the light of day, instead of having the only known solution to be “use something else!”

Yes, there is a glitch, as a cursory search of the forum could have indicated. Do not use the New Post button on the admin bar, and for extra protection, use Windows Live Writer.

The board is full of such issues, but it could have simply been a momentary glitch with your web connection. There really isn’t any way to tell. The complete loss could have been prevented as I mentioned however.
Personally, I’ve never lost a post (yet) using the Dashboard form.

Well, I had two browser windows open at the same time, and it does show a record of my cache for that hour, so I don’t think it was my web connection…but even though I’ve seen a lot of searches on the forum, usually the solutions found are to look in the trash, find a previous draft, or to go to your admin url…none of those worked, unlucky me, whereas most people are saved by that option. There was simply NO record of over an hour of writing and about 4 saved drafts. (For anyone reading this with a missing post, go to: Recovering A Lost Blog Post and see if any of the mentioned tips help first. If not, I suggest either silently rocking in a corner, or eating a bag of oreos. Just don’t brush your teeth immediately after like I did…

I think WordPress have stuffed up something royally this time, Merry Christmas to us all huh.
There are problems all round. I have to ask why didn’t wordpress to the auto save, that is what it is meant to do, you might have lost some, but not all.
