rogue page?

Is it possible to create a page that can be linked to but doesn’t show up anywhere on the home page? For example, I want to create a page for the PE Department that can be linked to from the Class Websites page. (I’ve currently got it linked to the old website page which I’ll be closing down as soon as I get the wordpress site completed.) There may be another way to do this so any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

There is only one way I know of.
Do not use the Pages widget and instead use a text widget to create the links.
This also has the bonus effect of allowing you to place pages in the order you wish. -
This method is theme dependent and will work for Contempt as long as you don’t put the pages widget onto the sidebar. Make a new page and go to the sidebar when creating the page and make it a child page of another page. This will allow it to be linked to as you wanted, but still “hidden” on the top navigation bar of contempt. Contempt has a page widget that will show all pages regardless of hierarchy (If you add this widget then it will show up with this method).
This faq page explains a little more step by step for you:

If you mark the page as private, then any links made to this private page will not work for those not logged in…the visitor will get a “Not Found” error. It works very similar to the way posts are described in this faq page…read the “private” section:

Thanks all for the guides.
Mark- I created a sidebar (Class Websites) with a text widget as you can see. How do I link that to the PE Department page (which I created and now shows in the pages sidebar which is what I don’t want)? I can’t seem to find a link creation tool nearby :>)

In order for the page to not show up on the top bar make the PE Department page a child page of the Class Websites page (or any other existing page you want). Read the first faq link above for details.
Edit: As far as the link is concerned make the text widget have this text:
<a href="http://sinaloamiddleschool.wordpress.com/pe-department/">PE Department</a> -

OK-I think the child page of Class Website page is the way to go. BTW, I thought you couldn’t edit the HTML of a site hosted by wordpress?

If you make it a child page then the link text that I posted will not work and you will have to put the new url in between the quotes. You are not editing the original page code but adding new code “on top of it”.
